Welcome Western Australia to the NDIS! Today the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments announced that WA will join the nationally delivered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
People already taking part in the WA NDIS will transfer to the nationally delivered Scheme in a phased approach between April and December 2018.
From 1 July 2018, the NDIA will assume responsibility for the delivery of the NDIS in WA, with the Scheme rolling out on a geographic basis.
Existing clients of other disability services delivered by the Western Australian Government are scheduled to transition to the NDIS in the three years from December 2018. Until they enter the NDIS, clients will continue to access existing Commonwealth and State-based supports.
New participants will be able to apply to enter the nationally-delivered NDIS as the Scheme rolls out in their region. By 2023, all eligible people across Western Australia will be able to join the NDIS.
