Never Break My Stride… Living with Syme Amputation

Some children undergo Syme or Boyd foot amputations. These patients represent a uniquely highly active cohort, who place demands on their prostheses that often mean repeated trips to have them fixed or replaced! Additionally, modern prostheses have become greatly advanced, and often don’t ‘fit’ patient who have Syme amputations. 

Are you living with a Syme or Boyd amputation, or are you a parent of someone who is? 

The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Australia, is conducting a study across Australia and the United Kingdom. This will help us better understand limb length, prostheses use, and satisfaction, in this unique population.
