Peer Support Program Manager – full time

Overview

Limbs 4 Life, the peak body for people with limb loss seeks to appoint an experienced Program Manager for the continued national expansion of our Peer Support Program. A key driver for this role will be to continue to build capacity among the Australian amputee community, increase the peer support volunteer base and overall awareness of the program. 

Amputee peer support is Limbs 4 Life’s flagship program and requires a dedicated and skilled manager to continue to increase capacity and extend service provision.

You will be self-motivated with the drive and determination to continue to deliver positive change to the community and work to build and increase capacity among this cohort. 

Key Accountabilities

The Program Manager will be responsible for, but is not limited to, the following Key Accountabilities:

1. Peer Support Program - Delivery

  • Manage and oversight program expansion in line with contractual timelines ensuring key project milestones are achieved
  • Work alongside the program coordinator to recruit and train Peer Support Volunteers nationally.
  • Expand local area support groups nationally metropolitan and regional areas to reflect demographic and place-based needs.
  • Build connections with existing peer support groups and group leaders.
  • Organise and facilitate presentations to health and community-based staff.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with volunteers and health care / allied health providers (hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, community services) ensuring that the Peer Support Program services are of a high quality and meeting community needs.
  • Utilise existing and develop new partnerships to identify gaps for Australian’s living with amputation  (and their families)

 

2. Peer Support Program – Research, evaluation and data collection

  • Review current Peer Support Program training model (including supporting documentation) and revise / update in line with best practice models.
  • Conduct evaluation with current Peer Support Volunteers (and program clients as appropriate), gain feedback. 
  • Prepare program reports as required.
  • Contribute to sustainability and capacity building planning for the Peer Support Program
  • Prepare Case Studies (as appropriate and required).
  • Evaluate and research the need to build capacity in health literature and investigate appropriate responses for identified gaps and target groups (brochures in different languages for individuals with differing cultural and language backgrounds, partnership with CALD organisations, etc.) 

 

3. Peer Support Program - Promotion

  • Support the promotion of Peer Support Program (media, social media and internet) with the Limbs 4 Life team.
  • Ensure the program's activities are well publicised and promoted.
  • Market Peer Support Program and Peer Support Groups in proposed locations.
  • Oversight marketing and promotion activities
  • Market the model to allied healthcare professionals and sector organisations

 

4. Peer Support Program - Partnership and Relationship Development

  • Represent the organisation in meetings, seminars and in presentations relating to the Peer Support Program. 
  • Represent the organisation effectively and professionally. 
  • Foster open and transparent relationships with partners with stakeholders.
  • Deliver in-service educational training to healthcare staff to improve pathways between services and highlight benefits of the program and facilitate referrals

 

5. General 

  • Work effectively as a member of the Limbs 4 Life team.
  • Undertake business activities in a safe manner so as to avoid or reduce the risk of injury or illness to self and others.
  • Operate in line with Limbs 4 Life policies and procedures
